The Cultural Advocacy Network of Michigan seeks a collaborative and strategic Interim Director to serve as the organization’s key management leader and public voice. This is an exciting opportunity to guide statewide cultural advocacy efforts during a pivotal transition period.

About the Cultural Advocacy Network of Michigan

Founded in 2019, the Cultural Advocacy Network of Michigan is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing a collective voice to arts and cultural organizations across Michigan. The organization leads advocacy and education efforts to influence decision-making at the highest levels of state and local government and ensures that cultural leaders have the tools they need to deliver high-quality service to the communities they serve.

Position Overview

Reporting to the President and Board of Directors, the Interim Director will:
  • Provide administrative support to the Board of Directors in their process of strategic planning.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory issues affecting the cultural sector.
  • Steward strong relationships with existing members.
  • Oversee the implementation of communication strategies, including social media, newsletters, and public statements.
  • Coordinate work with contractors
  • Ensure effective administrative and operational systems are in place.

This is a part-time hourly position (up to 25 hours per week), remote, requiring a home office.

This position is paid at $20-25 per hour, based on experience, and benefits are not provided.

Terms of Employment

This is a time-limited contract position through September 30, 2026. While this is an interim role, the organization views this period as an opportunity to assess long-term leadership needs and may consider a permanent appointment if there is strong alignment.

Qualifications

  • Leadership experience in nonprofit management, public policy, advocacy, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Michigan’s cultural landscape and the challenges facing arts and cultural organizations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
