Job Title:  Summer L.A.B.S. Camp Instructor

Full-Time/Temporary Position:  40 hour/weekly

Pay Rate: $15-16 hourly                                                                                                   

Anticipated Start Date: Late May 2026

Anticipated End Date: Late August 2026

Direct Supervisor:  Betsy Mappilaparampil

Position Duties:

• Delivers a hands-on, dynamic, and learner-driven science curriculum in a day camp setting to children ages 5 to 12.
• Acts as an individual directly responsible for the care of children attending camp.
• Supports all operations of the L.A.B.S. camp program, including before/after care, lunch, and outdoor play.
• Creates a positive, science-focused environment for campers. 
• Maintains a high level of customer service while delivering programs and engaging with all guests of the science center.

Position Requirements:

• Desire to work with children in a learning environment. 
• Knowledge and skills are typically acquired through experience and coursework in informal education, with emphasis on education, science, and customer service.
• Ability to understand and follow curriculum guides.
• Skill in using a computer with Windows-based and iOS software (word processing, spreadsheets, email, Google Drive).
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in individual and group settings and work with people of all ages.
• Ability to prioritize multiple, overlapping tasks while maintaining a pleasant, guest-focused attitude.
• Must be able to perform physical activities for extended periods.
