Membership Associate

SCOPE OF DUTIES:
This position supports the work of Mackinac Associates, the nonprofit friend’s group that supports programs at Mackinac State Historic Parks. Mackinac State Historic Parks’ staff members are committed to providing friendly and courteous service to the public. The position will assist the Chief Development Officer in serving members and donors by maintaining an accurate database of membership and donor information, providing acknowledgement of membership dues and other donations through benefit packets and thank you letters, responding to member inquiries, and assisting to increase and retain members and donors. This position will also assist with digital communications including social media.

WORK LOCATION AND SCHEDULE:
The workstation for this position is the Mackinac State Historic Parks main office in Mackinaw City. Hours worked are 40 hours a week. Primary hours for this position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with occasional evening, weekend or holiday hours for events. Occasional travel to Mackinac Island for meetings and events.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.   Accurate data entry of membership information
2.   Processing membership packets and billing reminders
3.   Providing information on membership status to members and staff
4.   Communicating with members in person, by phone, and in writing
5.   Taking RSVPs for events
6.   Assisting with mass mailings
7.   Assisting with event planning/implementation
8.   Assisting with on-site sales of memberships
9. Digital communications including social media platforms and website updates
10. Content creation, both print and digital
11. Assisting with administrative operations, such as answering phones

REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:
1.   Must be a high school graduate or equivalent (bachelor’s degree preferred)
2.   Experience with databases (experience with DonorPerfect or other CRM a plus)
3.   Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
4. Experience utilizing social media platforms for business purposes
5. Experience with graphic design platforms such as Adobe InDesign, Canva, or other similar platforms
6.  Ability to work without supervision
7.   Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
8.   Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
9. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
10. Ability to maintain professional confidentiality

DRESS CODE:
The park maintains a dress code for employees in the public service to promote a productive and safe work environment and to maintain MSHP’s public image.  This means no inappropriate hairstyles, jewelry, clothing or fashion statements are allowed. This position will require the employee to appear professionally dressed in an office setting, although more informal work clothes are acceptable when performing assigned duties outdoors when the park is closed for the season. Violation of the dress code may result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.

SUPERVISION:
The employee works under the direction of the Chief Development Officer. This position does not supervise any staff.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Stretching and bending are moves commonly made throughout the day by employees in this position. The employee must have the ability to do the following activities, with or without, reasonable accommodation: Frequent lifting, carrying, transporting, loading and unloading of supplies, walking long distances and on rough terrain, frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching and grasping, sitting and/or standing for long periods of time, and ability to utilize ferry boat transportation to and from Mackinac Island. The employee will be required to work both indoors in an office setting and outdoors in various weather conditions.

EMPLOYEE INFORMATION:
This is a full time regular contractual position. Mackinac State Historic Parks is managed by the Mackinac Island State Park Commission (MISPC), an agency of the State of Michigan. This position is based in Mackinaw City. This is not a Civil Service position; it is an annually renewable contractual position. This position includes benefits as stated in the MISPC Economic Benefits Guide for revenue bond employees.
