About the Position
The Fundraising Manager develops, implements and manages the MRHC’s annual fund-raising initiatives. This full-time position is responsible for developing plans for individual and corporate gifts and sponsorships, major gifts, annual campaigns and fund-raising events.
Donor communication, identification, cultivation/ stewardship, recognition and retention are a primary responsibility of the Fundraising Manager. Planning, organizing and implementing all facets of fund-raising events in conjunction with other staff members is also a priority.
The MRHC does not receive funding from taxes or government sources. Financial support is essential to allow the MRHC to provide visitors with quality educational programs, and to display, store and care for artifacts and archival materials that tell the story of our local history. Annual income is generated from membership fees, fundraising events, sponsorships, donations, grants, and admission fees.

Position will report to and work closely with the MRHC Executive Director.
Full-Time position (32.5 hours per week) generally Monday-Friday, with some required evening and weekend hours during special events.
Benefits include generous Paid Time Off (PTO), sick leave, IRA contribution and health insurance stipend. 10 Paid Holidays. Salary $40,000 plus commensurate with experience.
Overview of the Marquette Regional History Center
The Marquette Regional History Center is a 501c3, private non-profit organization established as the Marquette County Historical Society in 1918. Located in downtown Marquette, Michigan, the MRHC sits on a corner between Baraga, Spring, and Third Streets and is neighbors with the Marquette County Courthouse, St. Peter’s Cathedral, Janzen House, Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum, a boutique hotel and many specialty businesses.
The MRHC has seven FT employees and is open to the public six days per week. The MRHC maintains an active programming calendar, an extensive permanent collection and a museum store offering a variety of local publications, artwork and gifts. The permanent collection includes artifacts from prehistoric copper culture through present times. The main exhibit gallery highlights natural resources, Native American culture, immigration, and community, while rotating special exhibits explore topics of regional interest in more depth. The MRHC also rents the facility for special events such as weddings.
The J.M. Longyear Research Library contains more than 16,000 titles, including rare books and primary source materials by early surveyors, pioneer settlers, business leaders, and community developers. The collection also includes over 10,000 photographic images, manuscripts, scrapbooks, newspapers, current event files, magazines, diaries, correspondence, business ledgers, personal papers, genealogy sources and much more. The map collection holds more than 1,000 items, from 19th Century hand-drawn maps to the latest atlas of Marquette County.
