POSITION CONCEPT

The Digital Marketing Manager at Midland Center for the Arts leads the strategy and execution of digital communications to advance the organization’s mission and elevate its brand. This role oversee social media, email marketing, and all owned channels, while driving integrated paid digital campaigns that expand reach, deepen engagement, and grow audiences across the Great Lakes Bay Region. Under the supervision of the Communications & Public Relations Manager, the Digital Marketing Manager should be a creative problem solver with innovative approaches for driving engagement and connection among patrons and the community. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player with exceptional written and verbal communication skills, a highly creative mindset, and a sharp attention to detail. They are organized, agile, and adaptable, able to manage a wide range of projects and shifting priorities with confidence in a fast-paced environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate across departments to develop and execute a multi-channel digital strategy that drives engagement, builds audiences, and reflects a consistent institutional voice.
  • Concept, capture, and produce original, high-quality social media content, including photo and video, designed for organic growth, platform relevance, and audience connection.
  • Stay ahead of trends and platform best practices, bringing forward fresh, creative ideas that elevate Midland Center’s presence across social channels.
  • Manage and grow social media platforms through compelling storytelling, real-time content, and community engagement.
  • Develop and execute targeted email marketing campaigns that support programs, initiatives, and fundraising efforts.
  • Plan, launch, and optimize paid digital marketing campaigns, using data and analytics to maximize performance and return on investment.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on digital metrics across social media, email, and paid campaigns to inform strategy and improve results.
  • Support and maintain website content (midlandcenter.org), ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with brand standards.
  • Identify and tell impactful stories that high the Center’s programs, people, and mission. Bringing these stories to life across multiple formats and platforms.
  • Collaborate with community partners to develop cross-promotional campaigns and mission-aligned marketing initiatives.
  • Write, proofread, and edit a variety of communications materials, including digital content, publications, and promotional collateral.
  • Assist with monitoring and responding on behalf of the organization across digital channels, including during sensitive or high-visibility situations.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing marketing and communications team, supporting departmental priorities and shared goals.
  • Uphold the values and culture of the organization, adhering to all policies and procedures, and contributing positively to the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

Essential Skills:

The ideal candidate will be a(n):

  • Strong writer and editor who is adept with various communication forms, including social media posts, newsletters, and various institutional pieces.
  • Compelling storyteller who can identify and craft engaging stories and content
  • Fast yet error-free producer of content
  • Self-starter, capable of spearheading independent projects
  • Excellent time management who sets and meets deadlines for both short-term and long-term projects
  • Flexible multi-tasker who can move effortlessly between projects
  • Proven Team Player with ability to work within an extremely collaborative department

Education and Experience Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in the Social Media, Public Relations, Marketing, and/or Communications field
  • Preferred Bachelor’s or higher degree in Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations.
  • Demonstrated experience in social media management
  • Experience capturing and editing photo and video content

Preferred Candidates will also possess:

  • ASANA or other project management tool experience
  • InDesign, Photography and/or Videography experience a plus
  • Experience in an arts or non-profit organization
