Archives Intern - Motown Museum

The Archives Department at the Motown Museum is currently accepting applications for its summer 2023 archives internship program.

Internship Project:

The intern will work directly with archives staff to inventory audiovisual collections over the span of eight weeks. Responsibilities include:

  • Performing conditions survey of audiovisual materials;
  • Rehousing audiovisual materials; 
  • Identifying metadata for audiovisual materials;
  • Performing data entry of identified metadata into spreadsheets.

This internship requires a minimum of 120 hours over a span of eight weeks from June 5, 2023 to July 28, 2023. Hours can be spread or condensed throughout the work week. All work must take place onsite between the days of Monday-Friday from 9 AM-5 PM.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelors or masters program in library science, archival studies, museum studies, history, or public history.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work on-site between the hours of 9 AM-5 PM for a minimum of 120 hours per internship session.
  • Must be fully vaccinated with one of the approved COVID-19 vaccinations.
