Stronger Together: Empowering the Michigan Museum Community

Michigan Museums Association Annual Conference
October 19-21, 2026

Oakland County, Michigan

Stronger Together: Empowering the Michigan Museum Community highlights the power of collaboration in strengthening museums across the state. By working together to share knowledge, resources, and experiences, Michigan museums can support one another, address shared challenges, and advocate for a stronger future. This theme invites museum professionals to come together to learn, build partnerships, and strengthen relationships that enhance the impact of museums across the state.

As museums face an era of uncertainty, we will come together to consider the following questions and more:

  • What is the value of museum professionals and volunteers coming together as a community? What can be accomplished together that helps strengthen Michigan museums and enable them to thrive?
  • How can museums work together to advocate for themselves and their importance in civic life?
  • How can museum professionals and volunteers work with new partners and reach new communities?
  • What strategies are being used in the field to manage projects and make collaborations effective and generative?
  • What constitutes a successful collaboration? How do museum professionals and volunteers move forward when collaborations are not successful?

Thank you to our Partners!
