Evening Receptions

Your conference registration includes two evening receptions hosted by our local museum partners. 

Join MMA and your colleagues for two fun evenings of connection, learning, networking, and fun! 

On Monday night, join us at the Detroit Zoo for an evening full of wonder as we mingle among the penguins and butterflies. 

On Tuesday night, be prepared to be awestruck by the amazing art exhibitions and collections at the Cranbrook Museum of Art as you sip on beverages and even try your hand at some artmaking.

The Detroit Zoo welcomes 2026 MMA Conference attendees for an opening reception. Guests will begin the evening with passed appetizers, strolling through the world's largest penguinarium at the Polk Penguin Conservation Center, where they will get up close views of five different penguin species.

The experience continues to the Ron Kagan Wildlife Interpretive Gallery, the zoo's most historic building, housing our permanent art collection and tropical Butterfly Garden. In the gallery guests will be able to enjoy strolling food stations, desserts and a cash bar (guests will be given 1 drink ticket). The Detroit Zoo Shop will be open for guests to browse and make purchases if interested.

Tuesday Evening Reception

Cranbrook Art Museum

Tuesday, October 20

Join us for a reception at Cranbrook Art Museum under the Peristyle. Guests will enjoy a complimentary drink ticket and build-your-own pasta bar covering all dietary needs. Inside the Museum there will be four exhibitions on view – a preview of The World of Anna Sui as well as three exhibitions of the Permanent Collection: Labyrinth/Laboratory: Selections from the Cranbrook Collection, Designing Cranbrook: The Saarinens’ Eclectic Vision, and Shaping the Field: Ceramics at Cranbrook Academy of Art.  

The Collections Wing featuring our curated state-of-the-art storage facilities, Archives Reading Room, and the Saarinen House will be open for tours. Cranbrook Academy of Art Library will be open, films will screen in deSalle Auditorium and The ArtLab and Drop in Design in lower-level lounge will feature fun and festive Artmaking activities.
