Operations Administrator  - Michigan Maritime Museum

We are seeking an individual to join our team as an Operations Administrator. This position is responsible for the coordination and administration of operational activities within the organization. This includes developing and maintaining operational processes and procedures, as well as overseeing the execution of these procedures. The Operations Administrator also supports other admin staff to ensure operations are running smoothly and efficiently. In addition, this individual will provide administrative support to the Executive Director with weekly financial reports, and plan and execute projects as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Daily operations of the organization such as POS batch outs and bank deposits.
  • Manage and oversee daily operations of the Museum gift store and guest service staff, including scheduling.
  • Oversee all daily ticket sale operations
  • Provide admin support to key staff members such as mailings, permitting, communications, and other related tasks.
  • Develop and implement procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Order and maintain all office supplies, including postage.
  • Coordinate all bulk mailing communications and distribution.
  • Monitor operational costs and control expenditures within approved budget limits.
  • General office administration.

This position serves as a hub and supports numerous growing areas of the Museums mission and business plan. It is crucial this individual has the capability to multitask, strong communications & organizational skills, experience with office software and a willingness to learn professional museum software and reporting systems, as well as being a critical team member of the Michigan Maritime Museum.


Any combination of education and experience providing the knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Minimum employment standards are:

  • High school diploma or higher
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Basic accounting, record keeping, and computer skills
  • Comfortable working with online systems, Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and scheduling software
