Historic Locomotive Fireman

(part time) $17/hr, Greenfield Village

Trains are as American as apple pie. A good part of the history of our country was built on the power of the steam locomotive. If you are interested in keeping America’s tradition of steam powered transportation alive, The Henry Ford has the perfect opportunity for you!

The Fireman position is a part-time opportunity to be part of our Railroad Operations team. This position is responsible for the safe operation, firing and monitoring of boilers on historical locomotives and associated machinery in a manner that ensures the safety of self, crew, passengers and equipment. During non-operational season assists with the maintenance and preservation of the locomotives or other assigned artifacts or machinery.  Reports to the Chief Mechanical Officer.

Museum Security Officer

(part time) $15/hr, Security

Our part-time Security Officers provide a safe and secure environment for staff, students and visitors of The Henry Ford, the Henry Ford Academy, and the Ford Rouge Factory Tour. This includes responding to accidents and incidents as they occur as well as protecting artifacts and the grounds of The Henry Ford. You would be responsible for watching for and reporting irregularities, such as missing artifacts and fire hazards. 

You do not need experience! We are happy to invest in you and your development. We only need you to have a customer service mindset. We know ordinary people can do extraordinary things, which is why we treat every person we encounter as if they have the ability to change their world.

Greenfield Village Program Production Assistant

(part time) $14/hr, Venues Administration

The main duty of the Program Production Assistant is to facilitate and perform the various team-based tasks that contribute to the successful implementation of daily activities, seasonal programs, and special events in the Venues. Duties include the installation, maintenance, operation, and removal of all event and program components and materials. Work is predominantly physical labor. Assists the Program Production leadership and team members by fulfilling the execution of established standards of operations based on guidelines and training set by The Henry Ford. Contributes to the successful operation of the Program Production team.

Assistant Railroad Mechanic

(part time) $20/hr, Railroad Operations
