This annual contractual position is responsible for the coordination of a comprehensive social media plan, some graphic design work, and development of a marketing and sales plan targeting youth and adult groups, weddings, and contracted special events. These efforts include social media research and trending, group tour market research and forecasting, group and event administration, and frequent interaction with group tour leaders, event planners and guests. This position reports to the Chief of Marketing. This position hires an intern for the summer months.
This position is based in Mackinaw City during the off season and on Mackinac Island during the open season with regular visits of varying length to MSHP facilities in Mackinaw City during the summer. The position requires frequent ferry transportation to and from Mackinac Island, walking, standing and stair climbing while touring sites throughout the organization. This position requires attending regional, state-wide and national trade shows three to five times per year; carrying sales materials and physical set-up and tear down of sales booth display signs, photos, displays, brochure racks, etc.
Education: Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Tourism or a related field and at least two years of experience in group travel and event sales or marketing or may substitute Five or more years of applicable work.
