The Marketing & Communications Manager plays a pivotal role in bringing this mission to life by effectively communicating our programs and mission to our audiences. The person in this position enhances brand awareness, promotes various events and classes, and increases membership and donors across our two locations in Petoskey and Traverse City. This role will allow the candidate to leverage their creativity, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills to generate growth, impact, and deeper engagement for the organization.

This position is based in Petoskey, and reports to the President. The Marketing & Communications Manager will also work closely with the Vice President, other staff, board leadership, and volunteers as needed. It is a full-time, in-person salaried position.

Required Skills:

  • Digital Media: Skilled in website management, content marketing, and social media as well as other digital mediums.
  • Technology & Data Analysis: Skilled in or willing to learn CTAC’s current technologies, including Basecamp, Mailchimp, Neon, GiveSmart and Drupal. Track campaign metrics in order to ensure organization’s marketing and communications efforts are being maximized.
  • Creative Writing: Strong writing skills with an emphasis on grammar, style, and structure to develop compelling written informational communications and promotional materials.
  • Graphic Design: Create visual communication that represents CTAC and CTAC programs, using the newly developed brand guidelines. Skilled in Adobe programs and Canva.
  • Customer Service: Develop a better customer, member, and donor experience with follow-through and personalized service to maintain high customer satisfaction, and increased engagement to the organization.
  • Education and Experience: 2+ years of relevant business experience. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in marketing, public relations, communications, or related fields.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Strategic Marketing & Communications: Implement the brand guide, ensuring alignment with our mission and goals.
  • Brand Awareness & Promotion: Guides efforts to enhance brand awareness, promote events and classes, and increase membership and donors across our locations. Leads the content, design, and production of digital and printed material including, but not limited to: 
    • Newsletters and seasonal flyers
    • Year-End Campaign
    • Dart for Art, Paint Grand Traverse, and other special events
    • Weekly eblasts and email promotion o Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
    • CTAC Website 
    • Membership materials 
    • Program specific events and classes
  • Digital Media Expertise: Utilize digital channels effectively, including website management, content marketing, social media, and emerging digital platforms, to engage our community and drive impact.
  • Creative Content Development: Develop compelling written and visual content for both digital and print materials, maintaining a donor-centric voice and adhering to voice and tone guidelines.
  • Research & Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for growth, making data-driven recommendations to enhance our marketing strategies.
  • Advertising & Promotion: Plan and oversee the production of advertising and promotions across various channels, including print, digital, video, billboards, and direct mail. Effectively manages advertising and communications for various departments, including Visual Arts, School of Ballet, Performing Arts, events, development, and more.
  • Public Relations: Write press releases, develop pitches, and participate in media interviews to effectively communicate our programs and mission to the public.
  • Support Programs: Staffs major CTAC events, supports team members in developing and executing programs, occasionally staffs the front desk.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Provide personalized service to our customers, members, and donors, ensuring high satisfaction and engagement with the organization.
  • Continues to find new and innovative ways to connect with CTAC’s community and expand the organization’s reach and impact.

Compensation:

  • Salary range $45,000 - $55,000 commensurate with experience

  • Two weeks paid vacation, plus paid time off between Christmas and New Year’s Eve and a week for spring break
