Facility Manager - Impression 5 Science Center

Full-Time Position: Salaried - Exempt (Some weekend hours required)

Starting Wage: $39,500

Anticipated Start Date: Immediately

Position Duties:

  • Train, supervise, and coordinate schedules of Maintenance Tech staff.
  • Manage and perform daily maintenance and cleanliness of facility, including restrooms and lunch room.
  • Manage the ordering, purchasing, and inventory control of supplies associated with maintaining the facility.
  • Manage and perform the maintenance of the grounds—snow/ice removal, trimming, general landscaping, etc.
  • Manage and support facility maintenance vendors, such as: utility providers, contractual cleaners, HVAC contractors, etc.
  • Produce and implement check sheets for daily facility cleaning tasks, and support exhibit floor checks.
  • Coordinate and perform daily inspection, and cleaning of the facility and exhibit area.
  • Coordinate and perform building maintenance projects, including but not limited to: cleaning, painting, grounds keeping and minor repairs.
  • Maintain all facility equipment and vehicles.
  • Support and assist the opening and closing of exhibit area.
  • Assist with installation of new exhibits as well as set-up/tear-down of traveling exhibits.
  • Assist other areas of Science Center operation, such as preparation and setup for special events, preparation for group visits, and rentals.

Position Requirements:

  • Must possess general maintenance and custodial skills as would typically be acquired after two years in the field.
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple, overlapping tasks.
  • Must be able to work amid large crowds while maintaining a pleasant, customer-focused attitude.
  • Must be able to work effectively with little to no supervision, pay attention to details, and have a strong work ethic.
  • Must possess excellent listening and communication skills, and be able to work closely with staff with regard to customer schedules.
  • Must be able to perform physical operations, retrieving items from different locations in the building. and operating a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to endure physically and mentally demanding environment, including long periods of physical work.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds at varied frequency
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
