support this dynamic organization serving the children and families of Mid-Michigan and regionally.

families through interactive exhibits and programs.
Position Overview: The primary focus of this position is to oversee the organization’s internal event planning and external event preparation and facilitation. A successful candidate is well organized, able to prioritize tasks, think creatively to expand the number of events, and communicate effectively with a wide range of visitors and volunteers. This individual will directly impact the customer experience at the museum and play an instrumental role in the museum’s ability to serve its customers and guests. Weekend and some evening work is required. This role directly reports to the Executive Director.
Salary/Wage: $15-$17 /hr. commensurate with experience
Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt (approximately 20 hours per week to start)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Event Coordinator organizes all aspects of
internal and external events at Kids ‘N’ Stuff Children’s Museum.
● Facilitate the scheduled birthday parties
● Send out necessary contracts, confirmations, and other information in a timely manner
● Follow up with renters as needed
● Create and organize birthday party activities and add-on experiences
● Prepare files for each birthday for day of the event including contracts, notes, invoices, and
confirmation of payment in full
● Responsible for ensuring the birthday party room is clean and set-up prior to and after each
weekend of parties
● Assist and serve as the contact for party guests for the duration of their event
● Assess areas of opportunities to expand the number and variety of external events
● Lead the planning and preparation of large-scale internal events
● Aid in the planning and preparation of Bids ‘N’ Stuff Annual Auction, the museum’s largest
fundraiser of the year
This position requires the ability to do one or more of the following throughout the day: sit, stand, and walk, to lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally, do close work in an office environment using a computer monitor and perform repetitive hand movements. Employee must be able to communicate verbally. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Education/Experience:
Any combination of education and experience providing the knowledge for successful performance would
be qualifying. Minimum employment standards are:
● High school diploma or higher
● Previous oversight of volunteers, docents and/or membership experience desired
● Program or event planning is preferred
● Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
● Creative problem-solving skills
● Basic accounting, record keeping, and computer skills
● Comfortable working with Google Docs, Canva, and scheduling software
