The Michigan Museums Association depends upon our institutional members to host workshops, events, and the annual conference.

Workshop Hosting

Workshop hosts provide the program space, arrange for meals and refreshments (if applicable), and assist with local marketing of the workshop.

Meet and Eat Hosting

Meet and Eat hosts provide space for the lunch, arrange for the catering, and help with local marketing.  Some hosts also serve as sponsors and provide financial support for the cost of the food.

Conference Hosting

We are currently working to formalize the conference location selection process.

Generally, the local museum community submits a proposal for hosting the conference that includes commitments from local institutional members for staff and financial support, recommendations for conference facilities and event possibilities, and local sponsorship projections.

MMA conferences  are held in the fall and move throughout the state each year. Conferences are typically in more populous areas of the state though we rotate to smaller communities on a regular basis.
