The Muskegon County Museum, a history and science museum, seeks a full time Archivist to manage archival collections of 50,000 items. The museum collects and preserves the natural and cultural history of Muskegon County, Michigan, with emphasis on lumbering, Victorian homes and firefighting. Responsible for cataloging, maintaining, preserving and housing documents, books, reference collection and 10,000 images. Assists media and researchers, answers information requests, and conducts exhibit research and writing. Trains and supervises volunteers and interns. Bachelor's degree in history, museum studies, or library science required, plus 2 years fulltime work in a museum archives or library. Must demonstrate computer proficiency with collections software (PastPerfect preferred) scanner, digital camera, and storing images on CD. Knowledge of local and state history, and genealogy experience helpful. Possess excellent organizational and communication skills. Salary mid-twenties, plus benefits. Position open until filled.
