Special Programs Manager, Science Central, Fort Wayne, IN


POSITION DESCRIPTION: Entry-level management position; involvement with hands-on educational science center programs (physical, natural and applied) which will be of a formal and informal nature; lead in the development, scheduling and presentation of all special programs done at Science Central; audiences include schools, community centers, scout groups, families, etc; programs include science-oriented family workshops, scout workshops, overnights, summer camps, birthday parties, etc; responsible for the continued growth of the program; manage numerous part-time and seasonal staff.

REQUIRED SKILLS: Incredibly prepared (record keeping, phone calls, scheduling); very responsible and organized, time- and detail-oriented; be creative (experience in program development and script writing, comfort with and interest in science and education); have exceptional public speaking abilities (comfortable working with audiences of all sizes/ ages/backgrounds, outgoing, flexible, professional in attitude and appearance; energetic, enthusiastic; skilled in staff training); do moderate lifting (approx. 40 lbs.)

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a degree in science, education, communications or related program; college science classes; experience in the informal science education field preferred; experience with and ability to manage part-time staff

SCHEDULE: Schedule will include days, and some evenings, weekends and holidays; must be flexible


SALARY: $23,600 with benefits
