Development Manager for Individual Giving, New Detroit Science Center

Position Summary
Development Manager for Individual Giving is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Development. This individual will be responsible for helping to develop a program to cultivate and solicit mid-level and significant individual prospects, most who only have received annual appeal letters to date. Duties will include researching prospective donors, working with board members and an individual-giving committee, meeting with prospective donors, coordinating fundraising special events such as parlor meetings, and reinvigorating the Science Center’s planned-giving program.

Background & Qualifications
• Minimum bachelor’s degree

• Minimum 3 years of individual fundraising experience with proven record of success

• Computer proficiency preferably including Raiser’s Edge, Internet, Microsoft Word and Excel

• Experience working with boards and community volunteers

• Knowledge of the principles of planned giving and experience with planned-giving campaigns

• Ability to work effectively as part of the Development and Membership team and with Science Center Trustees; prospective and current donors and members; Science Center staff; volunteers; and the general public.

• Belief in the organization’s mission, vision and programs and the ability to effectively articulate these to funders and prospective funders

• Strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills required

• Exceptional integrity, trustworthiness, and ability to maintain absolute discretion and confidentiality with proprietary information

• Willingness to test new ideas, measure results, and maintain focus on individual-giving goals of the Center
