Interactivity in Exhibits

Led by Linda Norris, independent museum consultant on shaping compelling narratives, improving professional practice and listening to communities. http://www.lindabnorris.com/

This workshop focuses on the development of “non-technology” interactives for exhibits – both “hands-on” and “minds-on.” The goals of this workshop are: reviewing and exploring elements of learning theory/styles, understanding differing audience perspectives, exploring modes of non-digital interactivity with specific examples from museums around the world, and gaining confidence in a rapid-prototyping process and design thinking for interactives. In the afternoon, the workshop will move into the museum galleries to development and test interactive prototypes. Small groups will be assigned areas of the museum to develop an accompanying interactive. Museum visitors and/or other workshop participants will serve as a prototype audience.
