2020 Roundtable Planning Team Overview

MMA is piloting a new program format that we intend to be flexible and relatively quick and easy to implement.

The program format will incorporate several successful elements of the annual conference to focus on a specific content area. It will include formal presentations, informal exchange, and some type of immersive or tour experience.

We will test the new format with a program focusing on accessibility in museums. We will highlight several successful and innovative programs through presentations by members, have a "Museum Cafe" type roundtable exchange, and a direct awareness or skill building activity.

The program location will likely be in Grand Rapids or the Detroit metro area, though the team will help guide location selection.

Team tasks include:

  • Helping identify possible program hosts.
  • Determining and assisting with the speaker selection process (may include a call for proposals).
  • Identifying awareness or skill building opportunities or resources
  • Assisting in promotion of the event.
  • On-site support or facilitation.
  • Program evaluation, both participant and internal.
  • Other tasks as identified.

As with all new ideas, we think this is a great one, but we are doing a test to find out. Team members will help refine and evaluation the program with the goal of an implementable new program moving forward.
