Science Labs Program Manager - Ann Arbor Hands On Museum

Salary:$29,000-$33,000 plus benefits. 

For over 35 years the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum (AAHOM) and the Leslie Science & Nature Center, have been creating moments of discovery that inspire curiosity, exploration and respect for STEM and the natural world. The Science Labs Program Manager collaborates with the Education/Programs, Exhibits, and Operations teams to develop and supervise innovative educational lab programs and experiences for school age children at Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum and partnership programming sites through in person workshops and via video conferencing technology.

Key Duties

  • Develops, manages, and evaluates ScienceWorks Labs, Distance Learning Labs and relevant partnership programs. Serves as lead educator and model of best practices
  • Oversees maintenance, inventory, and storage of related program materials and spaces
  • Trains and evaluates education staff on ScienceWorks Labs, Distance Learning Labs, and relevant partnership programming.
  • Collaborates with Program and education Manager Team to hire, train, evaluate, and supervise staff, create staff schedules, provide professional development, and maintain program quality; serves as primary manager generating Museum’s education staff schedule. 

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent years of related experience, is required. Three years of teaching experience with a background in pedagogy, education and/or museum programs and ability to integrate state and national science and literacy standards into programming. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate with a broad range of ages and interests. A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation is required.
