Summary of Position:
Further the mission of UICA/KCAD by providing exceptional guest service experiences and professional retail opportunities to artists and KCAD students. Responsible for all inventory management, and wholesale buying for The Shop at UICA. Position will be required to be available to work weekends and evenings as needed to support exhibition openings, events and programs as needed. Reports to UICA Director of Operations.
High School Diploma/GED
Required Work Experience:
At least two years of prior experience in customer service with supervisory role.

At least 1 year of previous experience in a non-profit setting as well as 2 years in customer service; familiarity with Point of Sale software, inventory management, Excel, Photoshop, Word, and consignment and wholesale sales; outgoing personality
Responsible for all matters pertaining to The Shop at UICA. Provide excellent customer service including but not limited to; greeting visitors, answering phones and email inquiries while operating The Shop point of sale (POS) counter. Perform daily sales and cash handling at UICA including opening and closing procedures and deposits as needed. Manage inventory of The Shop to include: purchasing, pricing, consignment contracts, wholesale orders, and merchandise displays. Generate inventory sales reports to determine inventory needs. Work with KCAD’s Academic Affairs to support and order supplies needed for KCAD classes. Work with Ferris State University’s book seller to coordinate and facilitate designated pick up and drop off dates for textbook sales. Deliver training, supervision and communications to student employees. Generates employee work schedules. Work with Curatorial team to incorporate merchandise that correlates with exhibitions. Prepare monthly reports that track revenue, expenses and inventory turnover. Prepare consignment reports for artist payment. Develop a marketing plan that includes special offers, coupons or other incentives. Lead on-site sales for events (may include event tickets, beer and wine sales). Monitor cleanliness of retail area and common areas of UICA, assisting as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
Retail management and demonstrated supervisory skills. Attention to detail and extremely reliable. Ability to generate and understand inventory sales reports to determine inventory needs. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed.
