Position Summary
The Registrar will provide support to the Historian in the management of the Dow family archive, conservation of artifacts in The Pines of Dow Gardens, and history programs and tours. The Registrar will be responsible for organizing and digitizing elements of the Dow family archive and managing The Pines of Dow Gardens tour program. Other responsibilities will include assisting the Historian in cleaning and cataloging the artifacts in The Pines and creating changing exhibits in the Visitor Center display.

Project
• Organize archival collections
• Create/Update finding aids of archival collections as necessary
• Digitize archival collections and enter into Past Perfect
• Assist with research and loan requests
• Manage the tour program for The Pines of Dow Gardens
• Coordinate the history volunteer schedule
• Assist with historical programs across the Dow Gardens campus
• Assist in the cleaning of The Pines according to museum best practices
• Inventory and catalog artifacts in The Pines
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in history, art history, museum studies, anthropology, public history, or a related field OR combination of two years of an undergraduate degree in above fields with work experience in a museum or archival setting
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently or on a team within the department, and with the greater Dow Gardens staff
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Detail oriented
• Ability to speak in front of groups
• Knowledge of Past Perfect collections management software preferred
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously •
Experience working with volunteers
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
