- The American Association for State and Local History invites nominations for the 2008 Leadership in History Awards. Now in its sixty-third year, the Leadership in History Awards is the most prestigious national recognition for achievement in the preservation and interpretation of local, state and regional history. Nomination forms may be obtained by visiting www.aaslh.org or by contacting AASLH at 615-320-3203 or email hawkins@aaslh.org. Nominations are due to state award representatives by March 1.
- March 18 is the application deadline for grants from the 21st Century Museum Professionals program of the Institute of Museum and Library Services. For more information, visit www.imls.gov.
- April 24 is the application deadline for grants from the Save America’s Treasures program of the National Park Service. For more information, visit www.cr.nps.gov/hps/treasures.
- The National Endowment for the Humanities has preservation assistance grants for small and mid-size institutions to improve the preservation of their humanities collections. Visit www.neh.gov for more information. The deadline is May 15.
- The History Channel is proud to support the preservation of local history across the country. To date, the History Channel, in partnership with AASLH and the Rockefeller Brothers fund, has awarded over 1 million dollars to fund 109 preservation projects across the country. This year, the Save Our History program will again award grants of up to $10,000 to fund partnerships between history organizations and schools or youth groups on projects that teach students about their local history and actively engage them in its preservation. History museums, historical societies, preservation organizations, historic sites, libraries, archives, and other historical organizations are all eligible to apply. - The NEH Preservation and Access Grants: Humanities Collections and Resources support projects to preserve and create intellectual access to collections, including digitizing, conservation, and preservation. For more information, visit www.neh.gov. The deadline is July 15.
- NHPRC Grants support a wide range of activities to preserve, publish, and encourage the use of documentary sources relating to the history of the United States. For more information, visit www.archives.gov. The annual deadline is October 2008.
